Eat and enjoy!

This is the line for those of you who like to exercise and want to spend the year getting stronger and challenging yourself.

Here you will get varied training, close follow-up and learn how training, diet and rest are related. Because even though we train a lot, we know that sleep, food and rest are equally important for progress.

You will also get to experience the good life at a folk high school, with fun activities, experiences that you will never forget, and, not least, the social cohesion.

We collaborate closely with the other lines at our folk high school. There will be joint climbing and surfing tours with the outdoor life line, running and balance training with the circus line, and joint activities such as ice swimming and sauna for the very tough ones. Here you will become part of a larger community, and you will get to know many new people.

When the weather is nice, we like to take our training sessions outside, with
hiking in the mountains or surfing in Hoddevika.

Test yourself in one of the toughest competitions in functional training!

🌴 Training trip to Monte Feliz

This will be a week of hard training sessions and well-deserved relaxation by the pool or beach.

What you will learn

Here you will learn technique, build capacity and test your limits. 

  • Strength and endurance techniques : You will learn how to train with the correct technique and quality in each exercise.

  • Create and follow your own training plan : You will gain the knowledge to set up a plan that suits you, with realistic goals, structure and progression.

  • The connection between sleep, food and rest : Learn how your daily habits affect your training and your body, and how you can create a lifestyle that gives you energy and balance for the best progress over time.

  • Mental strength : You will learn how to stay motivated, build mental resilience and handle challenges. We work with focus, stress management and simple massage techniques that help you take care of your body and avoid injuries.

Here we train

Our training base and gym is at Hamna Training Center, which we work closely with. Here we have full access to top training facilities, with a 270 sq m WODBOX , a very bouldering room, yoga room, spinning room and free weights room to name a few!

The school also has a well-equipped gym that you can use whenever you want. We also visit other clubs in the area and train with them.

Who is the line suitable for?

The line is suitable for those who want to train in a variety of ways, push themselves and experience more than just the gym. It's suitable whether you're a beginner or have experience, but the common denominator is that you enjoy training!

What we expect from you

  • You will be a good training buddy, contribute to good team spirit and build a good class and school environment.

  • You are willing to push yourself and test your own limits.

  • You show up to classes and activities with a positive attitude.

  • No prior knowledge is necessary, but you must be motivated, have a desire to train, and be ready to try something new.

Meet Heidi

Teacher | Functional training

Heidi has been a teacher at Fjordane Folk High School since 2019 and has a solid combination of academic strength and practical experience. She has a bachelor's degree in social care from the University College of Western Norway, further education in mental health and folk high school pedagogy from USN. In addition, she has studied design, redesign and sewing of clothing at Rauland.

With a background in high school sports and fitness education, as well as several years of experience with strength training, yoga, and team sports, she is a committed and knowledgeable teacher who pushes her students to do their best when it comes to training.

When Heidi is not in the gym or on the handball court, you can often find her in the mountains, snowboarding, in the sauna or in the kitchen with something good going on. She loves handball, training, sewing and cooking, and last but not least, relaxing with a good TV series after an active day.

Teacher | Functional training

Veera is a trained physiotherapist and has a strong interest in the body, movement and exercise. She combines professional knowledge with a burning commitment to helping students find a balance between strength, technique and rest.

In her teaching, she emphasizes good body control, awareness of movement, and how small adjustments can lead to big progress. She is committed to ensuring that you understand how the body works, and experience both mastery and joy along the way.

When Veera is not training, you can find her in a cold pool. Veera loves ice baths, followed by a hot sauna. Otherwise, she likes to bake while listening to Finnish radio.

How to apply

1. Fill out the application form

It's completely non-binding and not complicated. We need to know a little about who you are, your interests and why you want to become a student with us.

2. Your application is being processed.

First, you will receive confirmation that we have received your application. After November 15, admissions are ongoing and you will receive a possible offer of a place as soon as possible.

3. Answer yes or no to the space

You have 10 days to answer yes/no if you have been offered a place. If you say yes, you must pay a registration fee of NOK 2,900.
